Programme Objectives
Celebrity Face to Face

Hong Kong Sustainable Development Research Institute (HKSDRI) has hosted meeting series with social elites named ‘Celebrity Face to Face’ for the research interns this year. The meeting series aims to provide a platform for youths to broaden their horizon and gain in-depth understanding on public policy and social issue through exchanging ideas with experienced social elites.

Celebrity Face to Face Guest: Legislative Council Member, Hon Christopher CHUNG Shu-kun, BBS, MH, JP  (24/06/2015)

We are pleased to have invited Hon Christopher CHUNG Shu-kun, BBS, MH, JP to be the speaker for our first meeting on 24th June. Led by Ivan Chu, the founder and executive director of Hong Kong Sustainable Development Research Institute, research interns actively participated in the discussion session. Mr. Chung kindly shared his thoughts on various issues, including Hong Kong – Mainland conflict, development of Hong Kong movie industry, Hong Kong competitiveness and its financial services, role of district council etc.

Celebrity Face to Face Guest: Legislative Council Member, Hon Ronny TONG Ka-wah, SC  (14/07/2015)

We are pleased to have invited Hon Ronny TONG Ka-wah, SC to be the speaker for the meeting on 14th July. Ivan Chu, the director and executive director of Hong Kong Sustainable Development Research Institute together with research interns participated in the sharing and discussion session. Mr. Tong kindly shared his life stories from being admitted to the Department of Law of The University of Hong Kong, to his career path of being a lawyer and politician. Also, Mr. Tong had heated discussion on the political future of Hong Kong with research interns, and gave them life advice about their future development.

Celebrity Face to Face & Media Workshop Guest: Ms. Carrie Chan  (31/07/2015)

We are pleased to have invited Ms. Carrie Chan, an experienced political editor and consultant on media and politics, to be the speaker for the meeting on 31st July. Ms. Chan talked about the significant choices she made in her life, and shared her experiences in covering political events. Also, she provided some practical guidance for students who are considering a career in media industry.

Guest: President of Legislative Council, Hon Jasper TSANG Yok-sing, GBM, GBS, JP  (07/08/2015)

We are honored to have invited the President of Legislative Council, Hon Jasper TSANG Yok-sing to be the speaker of the meeting series on 7th August. Mr. Tsang shared his experience of public speaking and column writing, and emphasized the necessity of critical thinking. He also discussed current political issues with research interns, covering topics of ‘one country, two systems’, legislative and administrative system, governance etc.

International Symposium on Active Ageing  (03/07/2015)

The founder and executive director of Hong Kong Sustainable Development Research Institute Ivan Chu as well as intern students attended the International Symposium on Active Ageing organized by Institute of Active Ageing, Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 3rd July. Scholars, government officials and non-profit organizations were invited to the symposium to discuss on the topics of active ageing, the third age education, health care, planning and design etc. Research interns gained insight on the situation of population ageing in Hong Kong.
